Cargo Claims

A major practice area for the firm is the handling and defense of cargo claims brought by shippers, consignees, and their insurers.

The firm has defended through trial, numerous claims involving physical damage, spoilage, and shortage of both containerized and break-bulk cargoes, involving domestic and international carriage, carried under straight and through bills of lading, or involving service contracts or other shipping contracts. We have particular experience in the handling of claims involving theft of containerized cargoes, damage to refrigerated cargoes (including cold treatment claims), rust or physical damage to steel cargoes, contamination to liquid cargoes, wetting and sweat damage to bulk commodities, and claims of mis-delivery or non-delivery.
