Marine Casualties
We have considerable experience in handling, through trial, marine casualties including collisions, allisions, groundings, property and hull damage claims, and other major marine incidents. The firm has also been involved in a number of cases involving the declaration of general average, salvage, and limitation of liability proceedings.
Kirk and Ed both have a maritime background – Kirk having sailed in the Merchant Marine and Ed having served in the U.S. Navy – and thus, the firm’s clients have benefited from their practical experience in handling casualties and in dealing with the United States Coast Guard or other regulatory bodies.
The firm’s partners are available on a 24-hour basis to respond in the event of a casualty, whether to simply provide advice or to travel on-site to conduct an investigation.
